our aims

We started thinking by making as a research project to develop and explore ideas on creativity, and to highlight the value of practical hands-on learning, innovation and imagination in intellectual development.

We aim to clarify what you actually learn by making things, and how making things in childhood is vitally important.

In this way we plan to challenge widely held views which devalue the importance of making in learning - and to inspire people to embark on a creative journey with their children.

It is something we feel quite passionate about:

We believe that when you make things, you think in a very special way - you ask questions, explore possibilities and develop your imagination.

At our making-ideas blog we hope you will be inspired by all the free creative projects.

They are designed to promote a way of working without boundaries between subject areas - art, science, maths, design, technology, history, language and communication.

Also we aim to encourage open-ended activities, where the results are not predetermined, and the process of exploring and developing ideas is just as important as the final outcome.
